Collection Tip for Notary Signing Agents |

by Victoria Ring---Bio- Hello Victoria: I thought you might be interested in the way I recently got paid for a notary assignment. Actually I have not received the check yet as I did this yesterday. I performed the loan signing December 16. Around the first of February I called asking for my payment and I got the "check is in the mail" excuse. One week later I called again as I had not received the check and got the same routine. On the original order I found the name of the escrow officer and her phone number. I called the escrow officer to see if they had been paid for their escrow services. She gave me the check number and the date paid. I then told her that I was going to write a letter to NAA and thanked her very much. I just wanted her to know about the performance of this agency. Within five minutes I received a call from a very irate man (Steve Skaggs of Independent Courier Services). He said he would be sending a check today and that I didn't need to report him to anyone. He was a bit upset. From now on I will be keeping the escrow information for all the signings that I perform. It's easy to just make a copy and keep it with the order. I hope my experience will help other notary signing agents collect the money rightfully due them. (Toni) |
